Feeling Some Love For Idaho Today

We've made two trips to Idaho this summer. Each time we cross state lines it feels like going home. The pace of life and traffic and breath all slow down and it feels...normal. In the best way.

Stress free Jonathan.

Jon and I both have hearts that long for the country. He grew up here, with horses and 4 wheelers and wide open spaces.

Kate doing acrobatics on Nonnie's horse walker turned grandkids ride.
I got a taste of dirt roads and the peace of country solitude while living in small town Missouri as a teenager. I miss being able to be outside and not have neighbors so close that they can watch my every move or hear every word of a conversation had on the back porch.

Caught you blinking Smokey.

Morgan got to be in a small town 4th of July parade with her cousin. She sat miles in the air on the back of a beefed up pick up truck... on top of a trailer...cause it's Idaho. As you do.

Jon and I are happy in our home, but when we think of where we would really love to settle down someday, it's always country and always Idaho. Maybe someday.

Things will be different next time we make an Idaho trip. We won't be staying in Jon's childhood home or having bbq's on the back deck under trees draped with bulb lights.  We said goodbye to the country haven that his parents have created, it will be sold soon.  I'm not totally cool with that fact yet.

Our next trip was our annual Redfish Lake reunion.  It's just the most spectacular rocky mountain lake ever. I'll write about that Idaho adventure tomorrow.
